Natural Palace Museum Day!!

Today I go to Natural Palace Museum to see the exhibition of Stunning Decorative Porcelains from the Ch’ien-lung reign.

The fa-lang-ts'ai porcelains in the collection of the National Palace Museum can be divided into two categories, painted fa-lang-ts'ai porcelains and yang-ts'ai porcelains. Masterpieces of unprecedented quality, these works had earned themselves the favor of the Ch'ien-lung emperor. During his reign, they were kept in the Ch'ien-ch'ing-kung Palace, where the emperor would admire them. The present exhibition concentrates on yang-ts'ai porcelains, although a number of fa-lang-ts'ai porcelains are also on view to demonstrate the differences between the two.
The Museum has in its collection more than five hundred fa-lang-ts'ai porcelains, with the majority made between the 5 th and 9 th years of the Ch'ien-lung reign(1741-1744). They are, in fact, a manifestation of the emperor's vibrancy and confidence in the early years of his 60-year reign, a period of great achievement in many spheres, as well as in the arts. At the request of the emperor, the supervisor of the imperial kilns at Ching-te-chen by the name of T'ang Ying(1682-1756) personally oversaw the production of the imperial wares twice a year, in the spring and then again in the autumn. It was here that T'ang developed a continuous line of innovative techniques to please his emperor, to produce porcelains which would be admired as "the work of the gods," such as the openwork revolving vases. It was also T'ang Ying that developed the "pattern of flower brocade" technique of incised decoration, which brought out the best in the enamel colors of yang-ts'ai. T'ang Ying was also the first to employ the term yang-ts'ai to refer to these porcelains. The Chinese character yang hints at the connection to the West, as it means "ocean" and, by extension, objects from overseas. Also, the decoration on these porcelains employed Western painting techniques. The yang-ts'ai porcelains had the personal stamps of Ch'ien-lung all over them, bearing poetry composed by his own hand as well as imperial seals belonging to him. Clearly, then, the Ch'ien-lung emperor greatly admired these porcelains, and perhaps even saw them as an innovative style adequately reflecting his reign when at the height of his powers.
Both yang-ts'ai and fa-lang-ts'ai porcelains used fa-lang enamel glazes, and this accounts in some way for the confusion that has surrounded them for many years. In fact, there are differences between the two in terms of where and how they were manufactured, as well as the decoration, poetry, seals and reign marks used. In the early Republican period the confusion was further exacerbated by the identification of the yang-ts'ai porcelains with the term fen-ts'ai. This exhibition will not only show 110 examples of yang-ts'ai porcelains, it will also seek to clarify the differences between yang-ts'ai and painted fa-lang-ts'ai porcelains, and clear up the confusion over the issue of fen-ts'ai wares.

The funny for me is I see many countries people in the museum and I felt international when I hear people speak in Chinese, Japanese, English and Korean.
The sorrow for me is that there are few Taiwanese because a Singaporean ask me where I am from. I told to her I am a Taiwanese, and she was so surprise. I am really sad when i found her thought. Maybe other country people more precious and appreciate our treasure. What a sadness new for us!!

Advantages of Living in a Dormitory!

It is the first time for me to live out from home, and I choose the life of dormitory. There are

three reasons why I live in the dormitory. I think about the advantages of living in a dormitory

before I decide to choose the dormitory life because I want to conclude a best way to get more

benefits. First advantage is I think the fees for living in the dormitory is much cheaper than

living outside. I spend 8300NT$ on living in the dormitory each semester, and my friend who

lives in the outside house and costs 8000NT$ each months. We can count up the money and

compare with both. It is obvious that I may choose living in the dormitory.

Second advantage is that it is difficult to make friends in the junior high school and senior high

school for me. We don’t have much time to get along to be familiar with each other.

Furthermore, I am a shy girl to express myself at first; I will be nervous and worry about join a

new group and life. Above the reason, I like the life of living in dormitory. From the semester

beginning to now, I have lots friends.

Third advantage is that classmates and I can save time from doing research and homework. We

use time not only in class but also after curriculum. In normally, we may gather together in a

studying room to discuss the problem to the curriculum homework, even can one by one

teaching where I don’t know.

The last advantage is that I can manage my time and schedule. I have heavy pressure about

curriculum in my high school formerly. Every day I spent most of time on doing my best in

studying and my parents may manage my life. Living outside means I am a adult and I should

response my life in the future.

There is something new in my dormitory life. We can learn skills to social with other people and

be independent when leaving from my dear parents. Therefore it is a new bridge connecting a

teenager and an adult. I think I will be colorful and fruitful in the pleasant experience.

I Am Working in Physics = " =+

In this Wednesday, there will take place a terrible exam.

Between the physics and the chemistry, I like former better. But after the first Mid-term exam,

my interest and confidence were both collapsed. They transferred into fears because I start to

worry whether I will be failed.

And my nightmare is coming soon next Wednesday. To get good grades, I studied all

weekend, and gave up entertainments such as watching TV, playing computer games and going

shopping with friends.

The main chapters are Applications of Newtonian Mechanics and Thermodynamics. They’re not

easy at all. I was confused for some questions; I think I am almost crazy about that.

I am nervous the day coming, but I will not give up any times to reach my goal.

My Roommate >0<

I have lived in the Chung Gung University three months. I have begun to be familiar with the

life of university. There are two girls in computer science and another one in electrical

engineering. Actually I think different major is the gap we knew each other because we have

different schedule and see. Therefore I and other two girls become really good friends. Living in

the dormitory is a good way to make friends in a short time. We are very nice friends and get

along almost every time.

Now I introduce the two girls. First girl is Belle. She is a nice girl but she also likes to play jokes

to people such as biting people, plucking other people’s forehead and so on. I don’t know how to

explain her performance? Like a lunatic? The second girl is Louise. In the beginning, she looked

cool but now I found she is funny, laughs in a low point and sometimes clumsy.

I feel happy every day. Although sometimes disagree may occur, it is general. And we will

together for four years.
